Welcome to the Should I Homeschool Challenge!
This 5 day series was created to help you get clear on whether or not homeschooling is a good fit for your family. Over the course of 5 days (or longer, as it is self-paced) you will have the opportunity to explore some of the reasons why you want to homeschool and what is holding you back. Once you get clear on these things, it will be easier to make a decision about what the best choice for your family is at this time.
Dig into some of the reasons why you may be hesitant to start homeschooling your child. Some of our reasons are good ones, and others are there because that’s the way we’ve always done things. The point of this challenge is to take 5 days to focus on and gain clarity on whether or not homeschooling is the right decision for your family.
Here’s a little introduction to the challenge. So glad you’re here
I encourage you to just do one lesson a day to allow each of the topics to settle. We will be looking at some difficult things and covering a lot of ground over the course of the 5 days.
Spend the time you need to on the work for each day. You will get out of this challenge what you put into it.
You can do this. By the end of 5 days, you will have a clearer understanding of your next best step.
Here is an overview of the 5 days:
Day 1 – Push Factors
Day 2 – Pull Factors
Day 3 – Fears
Day 4 – Turnarounds
Day 5 – Creative Solutions
How this Challenge Works:
Each day there will be an introductory video with an overview of the concept for the day. This video will also introduce a short activity for you to participate in. Spend time on this activity and record your work in a place where you can revisit it, like a journal or digital document dedicated to this challenge. The work we will do over the next 5 days will become a touchstone for you in the future, no matter what your decision is about homeschooling, so it is valuable to know where to reference your work.
A secondary video will go over some of the information I have learned through my years of teaching in the public system and through homeschooling my own children. The second video will help to unpack some of the ideas that likely came up for you during the activity and allow you to expand on what you have already done.
Thank yourself for dedicating time and effort to this important life decision.
